Kazuo Fujii is one of Japan’s leading clarinetists and has tirelessly dedicated himself to expanding the possibilities of the clarinet and classical music.
He studied at the Kunitachi College of Music, where he graduated with the highest honors and was awarded the Takeoka Prize.
At the 41st Japan Music Competition, he received the second prize.
His CD productions include several successful series such as “Prayer Times” (Japanese: “Inori no Toki”), “Romantic Clarinet”, “Clarinet Pieces”, among others.
In addition to his work as a clarinetist, he led several development projects, including YAMAHA’s successful “SE” series, which was developed under his direction at the company. For over 40 years, he has been committed to promoting classical music and the clarinet. His seminar method for clarinet playing has been highly acclaimed throughout Japan.
Drawing on his many years of experience as a performer and educator, he developed the groundbreaking clarinet reed “Dream Reeds”. He also conducted his own wind orchestra, the “Non Strings Orchestra”, which was founded with the aim of building a bridge between wind and string ensembles.
Until his retirement, he served as a professor at the Hyōgo University.
