I play mouthpieces by Johannes Gleichweit out of conviction, and I am grateful for Hannes’ enthusiasm and his tireless spirit of research! Starting from the basic curve of the “Hi7” by my teacher Hans Hindler, through small modifications we were able to develop the “Schorn series”, which suits me and my playing in a holistic way. The air is the connection between body and soul – when we stop breathing, we die. The mouthpieces by Johannes Gleichweit help me (together with the wooden reeds I play from the company Alexander Pilgerstorfer and my clarinet set by Otmar Hammerschmidt, Wattens/Tirol) to produce tones that are “bedded on air” – and thus to let the most natural, living music come into being!
Recommended Reeds
The Schorn plays best with high-quality Viennese wooden reeds. The following reeds are particularly recommended for this mouthpiece.
