Gleichweit Stephan – Bass Clarinet Mouthpiece Inspired by Sound and Personality
This premium bass clarinet mouthpiece (Boehm system) made from ebonite is specially designed for use with French-style cane reeds. With a facing length of 26 mm and a tip opening of 1.32 mm, it offers an ideal balance of response, warmth, and tonal depth – perfectly suited to meet the expressive demands of today’s bass clarinetists.
🛤 Background & Inspiration:
At the end of 2022, during our European tour, we had the great pleasure of meeting the exceptional Belgian clarinetist, educator, and composer Stephan Vermeersch at a clarinet event in Poland. His unique approach to the bass clarinet – especially the impressive ease with which he produces a warm, expressive, yet powerful sound – left a lasting impression on us.
🎼 A Mouthpiece Inspired by Artistic Vision and Sound Culture:
This inspiring encounter led us to develop a new French-style bass clarinet mouthpiece tailored to the tonal needs of contemporary players. After close collaboration and extensive tonal refinement, the Stephan model was born – a versatile mouthpiece that performs beautifully in orchestral settings, chamber music, wind ensembles, and solo repertoire.
